What is propolis?

Propolis or bee glue is a natural compound produced by the bees to keep their home safe and healthy. The composition of propolis can vary depending on many factors (origin, trees and flowers the bees have access to, bee species etc.). So far, 300 ingredients with biological activity have been isolated from propolis, and the msjority of those are bioflavonoids, natural compounds that plants use as a protection from microorganisms.
