What is propolis?
Propolis is a natural resin-like compound produced by bees. They use it in their beehives as a building material and as a protection from humidity, infections, microorganisms and bigger insects. Without bee propolis, the hives could be susceptible to viruses and bacteria. It is a mixture of plant resins, essential oils, pollen, waxes, enriched with enzymes from bees’ secretions.
Composition and quality of propolis depends on many factors (location, plants bees have access to etc.). Even its color vary from green to dark brown. It is harvested from beehives and is traditionally used by humans for medicinal purposes.
What are bioflavonoids?
Bioflavonoids are compounds, naturally produced by plants. They protect the plants against stress (microorganisms, environmental factors etc.). They are found in most fruits and vegetables and have been attributed to many of the benefits found in plant-based diets. They are the most important component of propolis.
What does “standardized extract” mean?
Since bioflavonoids are the most important component of propolis, it is important to ensure that the levels of bioflavonoids in daily dosages are regular/permanent. Valens Propolis Natural is therefore standardized on bioflavoinoid galangin, one of the most investigated bioflavonoids.
