Innovative food supplement with »sleep hormone«

Melatonin is a hormone, naturally produced by the pineal glands in our brains during the night time. Secretion of melatonin starts as soon as darkness falls, and natural concentration reaches its peak between 2 and 4 AM. Due to fast rhythm of the modern life, stress, night shifts etc., secretion of melatonin is often disturbed.

That is why we developed Valens Melatonin, an easy to use food supplement in the form of an oral spray. It contains “sleep hormone« in combination with vitamin B6 which contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system and to normal psychological function.

Oral application for rapid onset of absorption

Most products with melatonin on the market are in the form of capsules and tablets. But we took it one step further and developed a product in the form of an oral spray. It enables faster start of the absorption. It has an excellent blackcurrant flavor.

Lower concentration for safer use

Oral Spray Valens Melatonin contains 0,33 mg of melatonin per daily dose (1 spray). This is a dosage, which does not exceed concentrations that are naturally present in our body during the night time. It is also safer, causes no side effects and is proven to be effective.

What is melatonin?

Melatonin is a hormone that is naturally produced in the human body – brain to be precise. It is released by the pineal gland, that is located near the centre of the brain. Synthetically produced melatonin is often used as a medicine or as a supplement for treating sleep problems, such as troubles falling asleep, insomnia and jet lag.

What forms of melatonin supplements are available?

Melatonin can be made from animals and microorganisms, but is most often produced synthetically – most melatonin supplements therefore contain synthetically produced melatonin. It can be found in tablet, capsule, sublingual pill and oral spray forms. Advantage of sublingual and oral (in the form of sprays) application is a faster start of absorption.

How does melatonin work?

Its main job is to help regulate sleep circles as it help reduce the time taken to fall asleep. How? Darkness causes the body to produce more melatonin, which is believed to prepare the body for sleep. On the other hand, light decreases melatonin production and prepares the body for being awake.

When is it recommended to take melatonin?

Melatonin should be taken only prior to sleep. Some research show that melatonin reaches its peak plasma concentration only up to 60 minutes after consumption.

Is melatonin safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women?

No, taking melatonin during pregnancy and when trying to become pregnant might not be safe – not much is known about side effects during pregnancy and additional research is needed to confirm safety/unsafety of taking melatonin supplement during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
